Mermaid Isla
Isla is an original character I developed for my college Senior Thesis Project. She is a mermaid character who was inspired through my love of fantasy worlds and the creatures that inhabit them. This character has given me the opportunity to experiment in developing a character with un-human features and characteristics, as well as experiment in a new medium that is cut-layered paper. The cut-paper medium allows me to provide Isla with a sense of movement similar to animation. This project is a study of my overall design process and consists of both developmental sketches as well as framed cut-paper sculptural pieces. The project was completed at the end of March, 2014.
